The troubleshooting guide said if you get spark after unhooking rectifier then to replace rectifier and I am getting some spark now , but wasnt sure should the engine start without the rectifier hooked up ?
went to marine parts store and told them i wanted rectifier for a 1993 mariner 50hp he brought out alot smaller square with three posts i thought it was bigger square with circuit board and five wires on it he said no that is your regulator i do no not see the smaller rectifier anywhere on the motor, he said according to serial num. that is the only rectifier, but my repair man. says the five wire one i have is a regulator/rectifier . that would explain why it was $100 cheaper than i thought. any suggestions ?
