no spark

on a Johnson 80hp V4s-18c...... how can i check to see if there is power to the distributor/coil? the black wire on the side if the distrubutor is that the power wire??

I believe that when you turn the Key to the on position....there should be 12Volts at the coil.<br /><br />TMD

I thought so too,, so i tried to wire it direct to + and i got a spark,so i stopped,, i have read many posts on NO SPARK.. i guess a manual would be in order
