I have a 1993 Johnson 115 (TJ115TLETS)that I just completed a thermostat and water pump replacement. All seem to go well, no leaks and good stream when I place engine in a barrel of water. I don't have mist out of left, facing rear of engine, exhaust relief port. Right port does spit. Any suggestions?

Thanks and good morning to all.

Bill

Re: no spit out of exhaust relief port

As an add on to the previous posting I noticed that the one of two holes just below the cowling at rear of engine does not "spit" water as the other one does. They both have a small trace of smoke out but only the one on the right, as you face rear of engine, spits water.

It would be helpful if you posted the year and hp of your motor.

He posted that it is a 1993 115hp. I'm just not real familiar with this engine and don't want to get him started down the wrong path. However, since I have a size 10 shoe and a size 9 mouth here I go. With it running with the cover off see if you can determine where the water is coming from. Could be a split hose to your telltale, exhaust cover gasket leaking, or thermostat gasket leaking. The water has to be coming from somewhere and it shouldn't be that hard to track I wouldn't think.

Nothing to worry about. Very normal.

Thanks Dhadley. After seeing those holes behind the mounts I thought maybe that was the case but better safe than sorry. It always makes me feel better to hear it from the experts. Thanks again.

Bill

Re: no spit out of exhaust relief port

Good morning again everyone. To follow up on my previous post I appreciate the help on the water out of lower engine mounts. There was an additional question about the exhaust relief port not spitting water on the left side as you face rear of engine. there is water spitting out on the right side. Just replaced thermostats, valves, springs and gaskets. If I remember correctly this was the case before I put in thermostat kit. Johnson 1993 115 (TJ115TLETS) I see a slight amount of exhaust smoke out of both but only mist out of right side. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Bill

Is this while running on hose? if so,not to worry. However you should see water relieving from both exhaust reliefs when the engine is up to speed in water.I don't get anything out of mine when running on the hose.
