No start issues

Hi all-
Beautiful day, so I took the boat to the lake today. The trim function would not work at all, so I figured the starting battery was dead. I switched the wires over to one of the trolling batteries to start the engine.

It started one time, but even with fast idle up it would not come to speed enough to warm up. I tried starting the engine multiple times after that, but no luck.

Are the trolling batteries strong enough to be used to start the main engine (XR 4 150hp)? I don't know, maybe I flooded the engine???

Any advice is appreciated.

Did you remove the plugs to see if you flooded the engine? What's your starting procedure? Deep Cycle batteries regardless of size should be able to start the engine -- provided of course it was fully charged. If the start battery was dead, it is very likely the trolling battery was not fully charged either.
