No start, No tilt/trim - all else OK

Got back to the dock today and after backing trailer down ramp, motor would not start. No click, nothing. Tilt/trim did not work. Lights, radio, fishfinder everything alse ok. Had just charged battery and cleaned and terminals this morning and made sure all was tight. After fiddling with the shifter and making sure in neutral and checking everything, still had nothing. not even a click. This is where I get totally confused. I pulled the lanyard off the kill switch and tried again. Motor turned over and tilt/trim also worked. Re-connected the kill switch lanyard and all is well. Motor fires and tilt/trim work. Why would pulling the kill switch rope cause everything to suddenly function?? This is a 2011 Yamaha F40 on a Sweetwater 1770 pontoon that has a grand total of 18 hours. Bought it last October and never got in wet until this spring. Looking for any suggestions as to what may have happened here. Thanks in advance.

It's New, It's under warranty, take it back to the dealer and let them find the electrical problem.

I plan on doing that, but I just don't understand how pulling the kill switch would make evrytjing work again. I'm not good at electrical stuff, but I thought when the safety rope was pulled off the kill switch, the motor would not start.

After talking with the dealer, he insists my only problem is a loose connection somewhere and I should trace all wiring looking for that connection. Guess warranties don't mean much anymore. And I'm still baffled.

Start by checking that you have a good battery that is fully charged.
Make sure that all cables have clean tight connections on BOTH ends of the cables.
Tighten the battery cables with nylock nuts and a wrench, not wing nuts

Thanks Don. I have already done that. Battery reads 12.76 volts. Terminals and wire ends were cleaned with CRC terminal cleaner and sprayed with CRC terminal protector. Don't have wing nuts but do have hex nuts on this battery. Have also checked the fuse under the cowl and it's good. Didn't think it would be bad as the thing does work sometimes.

After searching for 5 hours, found a pinched wire at the T/T switch on the motor. Repaired it and everything works fine. Took a cruise later in the day, and after going up river 1/2 mile, motor suddenly stopped. Nothing I tried got her going again. Same as before. No ignition or T/T at any switches, but everything else works. Battery is fully charged and all connections cleand and coated with dielectric grease. I'm at a loss!
