no telltale stream

HI... I HAVE A 50HP MERC BLUEBAND.<br />I HAVE TAKEN OFF THE BOTTOM END AND CHECKED THE IMPELLOR WHICH SEEMS FINE? BUT I AM STILL NOT GETTING A TELLTALE STREAM WHEN RUNNING?<br />WITH THE BOTTOM OFF I BLEW DOWN TELLTALE TUBE NO PROBLEM?? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS???

I'd hook a garden hose to the water tube in the mid section where the water pump attaches and see if water flows through and out the tell tale.<br />If it does, rebuild the water pump. The impeller

hi thanks for reply... HAVE DONE THAT BUT STIL NO STREAM??

None of the above....pull the cowl and look at where the stream would come from. Pull any hoses, and whatever else is there. Some had at one time a screen in there that would fill up with sand/lake crud. Stick a awl in the hole too. Air, or water back flush, and just basic clean out...you are probably just clogged with crud.

No thermostat on the 50 Blueband.If clearing of the tube shows no improvement, re-check the impeller. Sometimes they look OK but they are delaminted and don't turn with the shaft. The fins still look fine.
