Ok, time to start troubleshooting this. 99 Johnson 150 Ocean Pro JPEXEES
Engine runs great, recently did the standard "New-To-Me" Engine maint: tune-up, De-Carb, and the water pump/impeller was done about a year ago by previous owner and the thermostat is on my list as i'm smoking a lot at idle and that may be one of the culprits along with the recirc valves. But thats all for a different post.
This is about me getting the minor bugs worked out at this point. And my first one is figuring out why i dont get a temp reading at my gauge. I've pulled the sensors from behind the black caps and they look "fine" not fried or covered it goo or anything like that. Checked the wires and they are all tight and snug. But really don't know how to test them if they are working properly.
The guage with the key off sits at about 1/4 up. Turn the key to the on position at it drops to zero and doesn't move.
My first inclination is to pull the gauge and clean the connections and see if that makes a difference (had to do that for the horn to get it working again, so figured it's worth a shot) but i was hoping for some steps i could take to test and troubleshoot the system.
Thanks in advance!
