no tilt or trim question is whats the best setting manualy

my boat doesnt have a tilt or trim it has 4 or 5 settings u can do manuly what the best setting? any help is appreciated
i have a 65 hp 1973 evinrude

pin should be quick to change so start with the lower unit close to the boat then do a few test runs then move it one hole and try again if the front gets bouncy then go back one pin hole
