Durango, Does the trim motor run at high speed? If and the motor just doesn't trim up, you could have a bad piston seal in the trim cylinders.

If you trim it up at low speed and then accelerate, does it trim back down?

Are you all the way trimmed, after a certain RPM it will trim but not tilt. Try trimming all the way in, then run the engine at high speed, & trim out, to see if it moves, if it does you may have reached the trim limit after that is tilt. Good luck, Joe

Trim motor runs but the motor will not trim up much at all, if I trim it at slow speed it stay's up. I talked a mechanic at the dealer he said the relief valve screw may need to be turned in. I'm gonna try it tomorrow. Thanks for the input guy's I'll keep you posted.

There is a releive valve and orifice in the piston. As stated above, when engines forward thrust is above the relief setting the piston will not move past the position where the orifice is exposed. That is once the motor is trimmed up and there is sufficient forward thrust or downward pressure on the motor the motor will lower until the orifice or releive valve has been closed. This is to keep you from overtrimming the motor while running.

JK

Thanks SingleShot that makes sense except I can't trim enough to get the boat to settle down. I pick it up tomorrow from the dealer I'll let you know what happens. I bought the motor used and he's gonna warranty it for me!!

Thanks: Jamie

They replaced the releif valve and it works fine. The old one was black, and the new one is white dealer said there was a recall on them.
