I have a 77searay with a mercruiser outdrive. when I trim down it takes a while to go down usually the preassure of the prop pushes it down. the trim motor runs just no movement. what could be things to check?
Sounds like there may be a leak in a fluid line off the pump. You can add fluid to the pump and look for it fizzing out somewhere when you run the system.

check for air in down trim circuit and replace the down pressure relief valve below the trim pump.When the engine is off,trim up halfway and try to lift the drive up with you hands.Usually it must not move.if you can move it then the pressure in down circuit is low,usually from a faulty check valve opening.
