No Trim Tab?? What do you adjust on '79 Evinrude 35hp?

I have a 1979 Evinrude 35hp motor that runs great. The only minor problem is that the boat always wants to turn to the right, which tires out my arm on the tiller! At fishing opener this year I experimented with moving the motor along the transom but that didn't seem to help. The skeg seems to be straight. However, I noticed that my motor does not have a trim tab above the prop.

What can I do to correct my steering issue?

you are correct, there is an adjustment that tightens the swivel it makes it harder to steer, but also will hold the motor straight.

Might also want to make doubly sure that the motor is centered on the transom - in relation to any keel or strake that may be in the centerline of the bottom. You might be running through a constant current that makes it pull to one side due to the lower unit being offset to the keel...

That's why I started moving it around on the transom, to see if it wasn't properly centered.

I'll look into adjusting the swivel. Any other suggestions?
