No Unleaded Gasoline

I just discovered papers hidden away in a 40 year old boat I brought home. It's powered by a Mercruiser 140. Tucked away in the owners manual, there was a bulletin that said, "Do not use unleaded gasoline in this motor!"

Was an additive ever recommended by Mercruiser to allow the use of unleaded gasoline?

If not, can anyone recommend an additive that will allow me to use unleaded gas without hurting my old motor?

Re: No Unleaded Gasoline

If you do want to run unleaded you can. Just pull the head and have hardened valve seats put in. Any decent machine shop should be able to do that for you....
