no water being pumped to toilet

It's possible that my boat was winterized 2 years ago and the water was shut off to the toilet. The toilet runs (grinds, flushes, bowl clears), but gets no water pumped in to it when the electric flushing is taking place. It's a full size toilet. I've been putting NO solids in, but using it otherwise and just adding water to the bowl once or twice and flushing once or twice. Any advice as to getting the water to flow while flushing?

1988 Searay Sundancer 268 with full size head---toilet is electric. Thanks much.

I'm still learning my way around a marine head, but check to make sure the seacock is open and the strainer isn't clogged.

Ditto that. If that doesn't do it you'll need to rebuild the pump because it isn't sucking water. I recently had the same issue with my manual Jabsco. Whether it's manual or electric it still needs to pump in 2 directions - water in and waste out.

Good luck!

Could you please give me a location(s) for the seacock. I've needed this info before but realy couldn't locate the seacock. Oh yeah, so this water to the toilet is not supposed to come from the onboard water supply?

Does the water supply switch on the dash need to be turned on to get water to the toilet? I hope I've not been a real dummy about this.

The waste is being pumped to a good location/holding tank because there is absolutely no odor in the cabin.

Water to head is supplied from the body of water you are boating in. Chances are that when the boat was winterized the seacock was closed. You must open the seacock to draw water into the toilet. Look in the engine bay for a 3/4"-1" hose attached to a shutoff valve. If the handle is vertical, it's open, if it's horizontal, it's closed. This valve should also be closed any time you leave the boat in the water unattended. The water supply switch turns on the water pump for the faucets in the cabin.

Not necessarily. My boat's head uses freshwater from the tank.
My advice- turn on the water supply switch and try it!

Given the age and size/model of the boat, a fresh water head is doubtful unless it was retrofitted by a PO along the line. Good point, tho.

To the OP, the seacock can be in several places. Engine bay is one. Mine is under a cushion in the mid-berth. FYI, your boat is a 'Weekender', not a Sundancer.

I've determined that the boat is a 1989 (not 1988) Sundancer 268. Does this change anyones opinions or facts. You have been very helpful as I can see that no matter what some of the specs are, there are some variable I need to check out. With this new information, what do you think about the water supply to the toilet and where it comes from?
