Did the impeller you took out have all its blades? Was the water tube coming off the pump hooked up correctly

You can check the water flow by attaching flush muffs and running the water. If there is a flow you should see some water coming from the exhaust.
If you remove the outdrive you could check if the water is running through the engine by sticking the water hose directly into the water intake.
it is possible that there is something clogging your water passage, possibly broken blades from an old impeller.

you didnt find all the pieces or your trying to draw up from a bucket and burned up your new impeller

Ok. I am supplying with muffs and hose. yes water tube is hooked up correctly. I believe I have impeller pieces sucked in as the replaced impeller was in pieces. Better question, how do I get them out

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Drop the lower unit,....
Unhook the hose from the drive, to the t-stat housin', at the t-stat housin', 'n stick yer garden hose, into the hose from the drive,....
Turn on the water,..... Hopefully the rubber bits will pile up under the drive,....

The t-stat is another good place to look for bits,....
