I have a 1988 Evinrude 140 hp V4. Last year I noticed that the water flow was kind of weak coming out of the tell tale (pee hole) and small amounts of water was coming out of the mating surface between lower unit and housing of mid section. So i decided to rebuild the water pump last week and even ran water through the intake tube while the lower unit was removed and I had plenty of water come out of the tell tale. Now, after putting it back together, I'm getting no water at all from the tell tale and tons of water from the lower unit mating surface. I triple checked my work before and during reinstallation of the lower unit. Not sure where I went wrong. I don't have a tub big enough to fit the lower end into, and it has a low water pickup mounted to the front. The side intakes were sealed off with some stuff as hard as concrete. So there is a fitting coming out of the lower unit which has a hose going from it to the fitting on the low water pick up. Not really sure if that has anything to do with it, but it didn't seem to be horrible last year when I was running it, I just wanted to rebuild the pump before it got worse. Really not sure what to do now, and I was really hoping to take the boat out this weekend. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
