Hi Guys,

I have a 1984 35 Johnson (J35ELCRR) with a new water pump, it test good on the hose and when going low speed on the water. The water also is coming out of the 2 exhaust holes until we pick up speed.

The water will still come out of the pee hole, but not the exhaust hole and it seems to lose power.

I checked to make sure the pick-up area was clear.

Thanks for any advise.

Re: No water out of exhuast at high speed 35 Johnson

Hopefully you sealed the plate to the lower unit surface and the water pump impeller housing to the plate. If not, I'd suggest doing so as this will prevent the pump from drawing air. I use Boat Armor Sealer 1000 which is available at most automotive and other stores that stock automotive items. OMC Adhesive or whatever Bombardier calls it now is available at your local dealership..... this is the same substance.

The holes you speak of are exhaust relief holes. Water does not flow from those holes all the time. THe majority of the water is being discharged out thru the propeller hub area.
