No water stream from motor

Hey guys. On my last fishing trip I noticed that my motor (2006 Mercury 40HP 4-stroke) wasn't spraying any water out of the back of the exhaust.

After I got it home I've taken the cover off and I've marked the location where the water stops. Basically right before the exhaust hole.

I had a cousin (who is decently mechanically inclined but somewhat too quick to look for an "easy" solution :)) look at it and he said that that last part (circled in the diagram) was probably just clogged and he'd route around it.

1. What's the circled part in the diagram?

and

2. Does it go straight through? I don't intend on just bypassing it but before I got aggressive trying to unclog it I figured I'd check to make sure of its function.

Thanks.

Ask Silvertip. He should know. Most 2 strokers just go from the engine to the adapter that is pressed into the engine cowl. I'm curious about the other two pipes that show to be going nowhere. Obviously some functionality using warmed engine water to control something maybe in the combustion process, or fuel heating or something. Don't know

Where did you find the diagram? Usually the numbers are described in a following list of parts.

The diagram I found just doing a google image search for "Mercury water flow diagram". Unfortunately when I visited the page there was no accompanying description stating what each part was.

So you don't know if that is for your motor? It is for a 25 HP motor, not a 40. What's your serial number?

I won't be able to get my serial # until the weekend (my boat is stored away from the house).

I'm not sure if the diagram directly matches my setup, but the circled part is definitely the same general item. Might not be good enough for buying a replacement part # but I'm just looking to identify the general name/function (ie, just "Thingamajig", not #ME39230 Thingamajig" :)).

No Title

Managed to track down - it's the fuel pump.

Pic attached.

Basically, just looking to find out if that water line show on there is "straight through" (ie, I can use something straight/sharp to unclog it) or if it bends around.

Well then it is what I said. The engine uses the pee stream to pre heat the fuel as the pee probably comes off the exhaust manifold, like my last engine, and that water is the first thing to get hot. Looking at the picture it appears to be straight through and surely you don't want fuel and water kissing and hugging.

Maybe a dirt dobber got you too. Run a wire through the water ports.
