So, boat ran great all last season with the exception of my electric shift cable. It was severed several years ago and corroded at the repair site (long tow back to the marina)….
It was layed up properly for winter storage. Brought it home, replaced said cable and tested in driveway, with water supply from garden hose. Everything went as planned and worked out great…. Until I put it in the water yesterday. Engine started running hot. I pulled the supply line at the thermostat, no water. I blew into hose and got bubbles at the outdrive, not blocked….
Pulled outdrive and checked impeller. It looks fine.
What am I missing? Should be working fine. Could I have lost the key between impeller and shaft. The boat goes in gear and drives, until I noticed the heat climbing, so the shaft can’t be sheared….
Right?

are you getting water flow from the line from the transom shield, yes or no?

I personally would put in a whole pump kit.

That’s the 1inch line from the intermediate housing to the thermostat right?

yes.

if you have no water from that and the boat is in the water, then pull the drive and look at the whole water pump assembly.

If you replaced the shift cable and did not remove the water pump then you may have not have connected the water tube correctly into the rear of the swivel bearing. As SD said go over what you did with the water pump.

If you did replace the water then either the 1/2 moon key slipped or you have the stainless plate reversed. I always would tap the key slot with a chisel to tighten the slot to keep the key in place.

Thank You guys!!!
I’m just now reading this. Had a long day. Pulled the boat out, removed the outdrive…..
The impeller was fine. Put everything back together, scratched my head, put the boat back in on the trailer, started it….
She has Ice Cold Water running through her veins…
What ever I did, did the trick!!!!!
Go figure.
