Been wrestling with this. My 140 hp, gm 4 cyl 1980 wont start.
Last year, on the lake, it died-hadda get towed. Later, it did start on the driveway. This spring, I cant get it started, doesnt seem to have any spark.
I followed the diagnostic for no spark, from my book, and replaced the coil. The things I see arent adding up. I have checked continuity from the dist to the neg on the coil, my resistor is reading 3.2 ohms (its marked 2 ohms on the side-didnt think this was a material difference). I have continuity from the starter solenoid to the coil.
Am not an experienced wrench, but not a newby. Dont know what else to check. Points, cap, rotor, etc, are all new.
Thoughts?
Thanks...
