noise proofing

I just brought my boat out of winter storage. I have an older 4 winns i/o.

My question is this: The motor cover is the kind with two seats next to it (one on either side) under the seats are a flap of upholstery that is attached at the top and has three snaps at the bottom. If I took some sort of foam insulation or similar and custom fit pieces in behind these "flaps" would I notice a reduction in noise? Don't know if foam would be the thing to use or not, maybe something that is flame resistant? The motor cover itself is insulated with some sort of spray on foam.

DougV>

Re: noise proofing

Check you local boat store, or BoatUS.. they sell "sound proofing" material. It's s dense foam with a thin metallic covering. (I think its about $60 for a 3' square)

I have a Four Winns 284 Vista, this material is under both engine hatches.
