moving at 3500rpm exhaust noise became very loud. appears to have no loss of power, no warning lights, no rough idle or missing. this is a 200 v6 outboard johnson 1999. pees ok no outward signs of of bad running other than very noisey
Maybe you hear the same as i.<br />But i got a real good answer from the great guy DHADLEY<br /><br />quest.<br />I got an Johnson faststrike 175 -93 and when i run it in neutral (only on throttle)<br />i get that random knocking, starting about 4000 rpm but cant hear it when im running on gear (maybe when i shut it down fast)<br /><br />answer<br />The "decell knock" you hear is nothing unusual for that motor upon rapid de-celleration. I would not recommend 4000 in neutral though. Stick with Champion spark plugs and you should be OK. I know it sounds horrible but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.<br /><br />Good luck and enjoy!
