Noisy Air Conditioner

The compressor on my air conditioner has become more loud than usual. Any ideas of what can be done to quiet it down?

Turn it off?<br /><br />Need a little (no, a lot) more info, Oscar. What kind of A/C, installed how?<br /><br />What sort of noise?

Ok JB, it is a Cruisair 12000BTU unit, located under the vberth of my 2003 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer.<br /><br />It makes two noises . One I am sure is the fan motor, sounds likeblades are rattling. Dealer is replacing the fan, but I also am getting a sort of drone / ringing noise much like you hear from a refrigerator compressor except louder.<br /><br />Unfortunately options so far have been to shut it off, or wear ear plugs. Thanks for your help.

Hmmmm. Not familiar with that unit.<br /><br />As a generic "noise" tracer, I would look at the compressor mounts to see if cushioning has broken down and allowed vibration to transfer to the frame.<br /><br />Good luck.
