based largely on threads from this forum plus what my service manual says, I think I want to run straight 30 weight synthetic in my 5.7

Where can you get the stuff? The local auto parts outfits only carry multi viscosity synthetic.

Thanks

What a hoot!
After reading your replies I did a little more digging through the archives. What a can of worms.

For my next trick I will introduce a non controversial thread on politics!

Schaeffer and Conklin (Convoy) are a couple of others that carry straight 30W synthetic oils that are API licensed and recommended for marine use.

The Mercruiser synthetic is the only oil that I am aware of that carries the new NMMA FC-W marine certification. It's unclear if the others pass the FC-W testing.

http://www.nmma.org/certification/programs/oils/registeredoil.asp?y=FC-W2004
