Non-skid Additive

I am in the process of painting the floor of this 24' Grady. I plan on using Interlux Perfection.<br /><br />I currently have 2 coats of primer applied, am hoping to put the first coat of color on tomorrow.<br /><br />I would like to add the non-skid additive to only a portion of the floor. I have read it's possible to apply the additive soon after you apply the paint, kinda sprinkle it on I guess.<br /><br />Anybody have any experience doing this?

Hi Tony,....<br /><br />When I did the floor of the Starcraft,......<br /><br />I Covered the Resin I used with Mason's Sand,......I'm sure that'll work with Paint as well......<br />After it Dried,.... I vacuumed up the excess.......<br />Mason's Sand is Washed,+ has No Dust,+ Silt in it........<br />Bagged Playbox Sand would work,... But it still has the Dust,+ Silt in it..........<br />Sandblasting Sand is another alternative,...Just More Expensive,.....And it tends to be Harder,+ Sharper granules.......

I have used #400 silica sand on several boat decks. The first time I sprinkled it on the wet paint then later painted over with the final paint coat. Since that time I have masked the area to be textured real neat then rolled on the final sanded coat. That adding sand to paint really did a professional job and was actually much easier. Chief
