1992 Mercruiser 5 0LX with 328hrs on it.

Ran fine 2 weeks ago. Now cant get it to even turn over.
I am did verify fuel dumped into carb and I do have spark.
I am wondering though if engine may be flooded.

But I also have fuel leaking from spot indicated by screwdriver. Basically the housing where fuel line seats into carb...it is coming out around that circular seal.

Any ideas? Havent done anything else to it. It has fresh fuel, new fuel water separator. Bew plugs, coil, wires.
Safety cutoff switch is operating as it should. I dont even get it to crank in gear.

Thanks!

I think if the kill switch was the issue...it would still turn over usually.
I would pull the plugs out and check for water

Turn key to start and hold, while doing so grab the throttle handle and move it slightly fwd/rev

Neutral safety switch

curious as to how you verified spark if the engine doesn't turn over?

Hey gius/gals....my apologies for a poorly worded topic post. I was fried from sitting in the boat trying to figure out what was going on.
But I did figure it out.

What was happening:
I put the key in and turned it....gear select in neutral. What I didnt do was put the kill switch key in place. So the motor was trying to turn over...but no spark because of lack of kill switch. (I blame my fatigue for screwing up the "has spark" in my original post).
Just was tired when I was finishing up lubing the shift pins/shaft at motor and simply forgot the dang kill switch key.

Other tell tale sign....when I turned the ignition key over, the gauges didnt move like there was no electrical current.

Went out this morning, set the kill switch in place and turned the key over and fired right up. Just a complete boneheaded move!

I do however still have a slight fuel leak at that point where fuel line/large 1" screw goes into carb housing. Is there a o-ring in there or am I gonna need a new carb completely?

Took her out today with the family for 5hrs on lake. Still getting 4 or 5 oz of water in bilge and think it might be from a transom beginning to rot. But she ran beautifully up to 30mph....didnt test her any further....yet. was turning about 2900rpm at 30mph. Dont know if that is about typical or not. 3 blade prop 19 pitch.

Glad your up and running but its your first statement that throws everyone off

Now cant get it to even turn over.

If it would not turn over then its not the kill switch, but yours was turning over but not starting
