Noobe ? on boat building

I've read here some mentions on " backyard boat building" and building a boat from scratch. I tried using the search but got lost looking through 500 matches.:eek: The question I have is can you manufacture your boat? I would like to try to build my own pontoon boat. I know I can build it (buying the pontoons new or from a salvage yard), but can I title it and use it. If so what is involved in the process? Thanks:)

Also checkout the coast guard website, you can download ALL of the safety regs except anything related to EFI. EFI falls in some regulation black hole I guess.

There is no real black magic to building (or repairing) a boat. Just don't assume that because it works, or is used on a car, that it will be acceptable ona boat.

Welcome to iboats. Sometime starting from scratch cost more then buying a new boat. Now a days you can buy a used boat for less then the cost of the raw materials.

With that said, sounds like fun....good luck.
