Hello everyone,
I have very little boating experience...mostly driving my parents rental pontoons, but would like to own my own boat. I have found a 1987 Bayliner that I'm fairly interested in. The ad says, and the pics show that it is a 13 1/2 foot open bow. From what I was able to gather, I'm assuming this is the 1400 Capri. So, my first question is...does anyone know anything about this particular model? Is it a fairly good boat? Is it fairly stable, being only 14 ft long? I live in the Charleston, SC area, and would like to have a boat that I can cruise down into the harbor and around some of the coastal islands...would this boat be able to do that?
My second question is...does anyone have any general advice for a rookie looking to buy a boat. I'm not really mechanically inclined, so any dumbed down advice on what to look for would be GREATLY appriciated!
For reference, here is the ad that I was looking at.
"For Sale: 1987 Bayliner with 1965 model 65 horse power mercury motor. Runs good, but needs prop. Interior of boat has been redone. Includes Pioneer cd player. Ready for you to take home on a galvanized trailor. More pictures available upon request. 600.00 OBO"
