This is the only 2nd time I've had my boat out... and I hit something underwater..it took about 1 inch off each blade on my prop and took just a little of the skeg off luckily I was only going about 10mph and I don't think I damaged anything else the prop shaft doesn't wobble or have any play only thing I noticed was some vibration but could the unbalanced prop cause this?..I sure am glad I didn't have a stainless steel prop probably would have bent my shaft ..atleast the aluminum shaved off clean.

Re: not a good day..

Sorry to hear about your day but you've just joined the not so exclusive "Prop Busters Club" ;) There is a reason for all those prop shops to be in business. Yes the wrecked prop will certainly cause "Bad Vibrations" so please don't run it as you can cause much more damage to the lower unit. Take it in to a prop shop for repair (it's pretty amazing what a good shop can do) or pick yourself up a new one and keep the repaired one for a spare.

Damn that is a bad one ... yes the damaged prop can cause the vibration, .... but if you think your situation is bad ... a couple of weeks ago my brother and I went to a pub next to the river with our boats full of my friends and his .. his boat 18ft countess with yamaha 225 and my boat .. boatlocker 18ft with mariner 150 ... we got smashed and drove home, got home and thought it would be funny to tilt the engines way up to each other and spray each other and all the people in the boat ... in the process the two engines got too close to each other and the props hit each other and ripped all the blades off on both motors ... it was funny at the time but the next morning it really sucked ... luckily only the props were damaged and I carry loads of spairs .....
