Hello -

I'm new to boating and I?m looking for a good boat mechanic ? I?ve asked many boaters and so far a good boat mechanic seems more elusive than Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster - I am comfortable performing routine maintenance, but unfortunately my boat is in need of some repair - Can anyone recommend a good Volvo penta mechanic in upstate NY?

I'm actually just outside of Albany myself. The best place I have come across so far is Albany Marine Service in Latham off of Rt. 9. Barney knows his stuff. Nick usually answers the phone. He is an older gentleman and he kind of gives me the impression that he doesn't like to go out of his way much (maybe because I'm a new younger customer,) but Barney is great. He is the one who does all the work. Ask for him. They have been around for a long time. They have the best prices around on parts hands down. They also have a huge selection of items and parts in their marine store. Every person I have ever asked has recomended me to them.
