I have a 2001 Evinrude 90hp and it is not charging, I am trying to find the regulator/rectifier on the motor but I am having trouble locating it. Can anyone help?

Re: Not charging.

Put your finger on the starter solenoid terminal that has the big red cable that runs to the positive post on the battery. Note that there is also a smaller red wire on that terminal. Follow that wire back to the regulator/rectifier.

I found the red wire okay but it goes into a harness and branches out and I can not see where it comes out.

Re: Not charging.

Read post # 4 again. You should take this into a dlr and have a laptop put on it and see what codes come up. You could also have a bad stator.

After researching it further, I think you are right. I did post the wrong model number and it should have been E90FPLSIF. I cannot find a part called a Regulator/Rectifier listed so it must be in the stator. I was hoping you were wrong as I did not want to replace the stator.

Re: Not charging.

Maybe, maybe not. As i said before, have it checked out on a laptop. The lap top will check voltages at different points.

No errors found except the air temperature which was unhooked. Is there a possibility that it could be a fuse?

Re: Not charging.

You may want to check all the fuses in the PDP panal.

All fuses were good but their are some relays mounted in with the fuses. Would any of these be a possibility? I have ordered a manual for this and maybe I can find something in there.

It is in the stator. Now to change out the stator. Not looking forward to that.
