I have a '94 50hp evinrude im only getting spark from bottom spark plug nothing from top one. Would it hurt the motor if its been running like this. Do i need to replace the coil or something else to fix probablem? And would this cause it to run at 4500 rpms wot?

Re: Not getting spark

Yep it does hurt the motor to be running like that. But if you are able to get it to 4500 rpm, I doubt that you are running on one cylinder. I would swap coils and see if that makes a difference. You definitely don't want to run it on one cylinder.

Have a great day,

Maybe you've got a bad plug wire...and changing its position makes it worse??

don't run it like that, as said complete swap the coils, and see if the problem follows the coil, if so replace coil, if not start check grounds. then the powerpack. hopefully it is the coil.

The only way you could get it up to 4500 on one cylinder would be if you are running it out of the water or without a propeller. But you aren't doing that-------are you? Now THAT will certainly destroy the motor in a heartbeat!!!

QL78YC (see note 3)

3. On ALL VRO/OMS equipped motors the "QL" supressor plug is recommended.
