Re: not getting water out the pee hole

I am going thru the same thing on the same motor and i was getting water out the back, but not very much.We thought it was the impeller,so we dropped the lower unit to replace it and the copper water tube came right out when we dropped the lower.

There is a rubber grommet at the top of the copper tube, that creates a seal and with out it , it does not cause enough pressure to pull water all the way thru the motor.

sucks because they are hard to find and you have to take the whole block off.

rather find out now then on the water

First of all, if you are talking about the hole(s) behind the leg, they are not pee holes. They are relief ports for easier starting. Water and exhast both come out of these holes but not in a stream. It sort of spits out because the exhaust is blowing through it.

If you are not getting anything, open the cowl and look at the back of the leg to see if the connection bellows is damaged.

I get durt dubbers that clog my pee hole up every now and then. It might be that simple for you. If so take a strand of weed eater cord and clean it out. Hope thats all it is, good luck.

Nah...you dont need to do that....its not a pee hole like most engines. like what has already been stated, it will come out as spurts and a little smoke. thats it. Worried about your impeller? there is a great tread in here on how to install a pee hole out the side of your rig. It was at the top today.

Re: not getting water out the pee hole

thanks to all for the input. I was reading more in Seloc repair manual and it said there is no water movement to the thermosat get to 145*F. I don't think ran it long to get up to normal temp. I will run it longer next time I start. This is the first outbord I had since 1989. Everything been inboards. So I want to make shure i\I'm doing everything right. Motor is from 1980 but runs like a new motor. Allways starts less then 5 sec. Thanks for all the help, so if the Seloc is right I just got to run it longer. Is this right?????????

The cowl is the hood or cover...just remove it and you will see what he is talking about.
