Not maintaining WOT

Is it normal to have to keep my hand on throttle lever to keep it wide open? If I let off it slows down a bit. Lever moves back to around fuel saver range. It an '83 Chrysler 85 hp.

generacly the answer is no. There should be a tension adjuster at the handle.

I had the control box apart to clean it. Didn't notice any adjuster. I will check again.

Depending on the control box there might be a screw to adjust tension.

The connector on the block.
There are 2 kinds one has a spring (tensioner) built in and the other is just a tube about 2-3 inches long.
If the tension on either one is too much it can make the throttle pull back.
There is some tension needed but usually just a little.
