Not repair just question

I have a Merc. 60hp o/b , and I operate with 2 d/c batt's. here is my question, and please be nice I am a newbie.<br />Do Boat batteries charge as the O/B operates like in a car (via a gen. or alt.)?<br /><br />2nd. when boating do or will you keep your batt. switch set too All or do you use 1 batt at a time. <br /><br />This information will be greatly appreciated.

? #1 Yes, your 60 mercury does charge the battery or batteries, similar to your car just at lower amps..<br /><br />? #2 When running the boats engine I typically turn the switch to "both" so that both batterys are charging... <br /><br />When I stop to fish or just goof off and I'm running the accessories like the radio or trolling motor, I'll switch to battery #1 which I use as my "house" battery... <br /><br />I use battery #2 strictly as my starting battery... Once the engine is started and running I'll switch to back to "both"....
