Sounds like a fuse or maybe even a bad or loose ground. I would surely make sure all connections are tight and clean. You don't have a battery switch do you? I know my boat has 2 batteries with a battery selector and on off switch. I know I can trim and start my motor with the batteries on off, which I always found weird but the helm (dash) will be completely off lol

What the others mentioned and will add: not knowing what year your boat is there is a 20amp fuse behind the dash, or in your fuse panel. Also check you reconnected all the wires back on the battery, and the 50amp breaker on the engine (red button).

Are you positive you have the 2 large battery cables hooked up? And not just the small black for the trim pump.
But then ,WE DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR WORKING ON

Why make things so hard on yourself? Take the outdrive off and make things much easier for this job. Takes all of five minutes! And you can do your other required preventive maintenance at the same time (u-joints, gimbal bearing inspections, lubes, alignment checks, etc)

Something is wrong here, you went from an electrical issue to pounding screwdrivers into the outdrive. The bellows would not affect starting????????????????
