My father passed away a month or so ago, and I am trying to figure out the worth of some of his personal items. Dad had a 1951 evinrude Lightwin 3 serial #301404791 It also states that it was made in Milwaukee, Wi. It does run. I can not find the owners manual for it. My Father kept it in good condition. Can anyone out there help me find out what it may be worth? Or where I can go to find out. Thanks, Vera

Re: Not sure where to go.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your father.

Three possible suggestions:

1. NADA guides. I doubt that they will have anything listed for that far back, but it is worth a shot.
2. Check out your local Craigslist and see what comparable boats are selling for.
3. Call the company that insured the boat and ask them what the book value is for that boat. They will most likely have it on file.

A final alternative would be to contact one of his fishing/boating buddies and ask if they know anyone who may be interested and what he/she thinks it is worth. You might even find a buyer that way.

Best wishes during a difficult time.

depending on conditions, an apparently it is in pretty good condition, since it will run. $100-500 depending on who the buyer is. some one wanting to fish $100, possible collector or decorator, $500. these guys can help you more.

they made a lot of those motors and sorry to say TD is probably right on the 100-150. I don't think it will every see 500 to a collector. There are too many of them out there. I have owned three just this last year.

I believe the 3014 is a 55.I think lightwin production began in 52.These are wonderful little motors produced almost unchanged to 1968.It is a twin cylinder making it smoother than the many modern day singles.Routine parts are readily available both used and new.Making an easy motor to maintain.Don't let anyone tell you "gee its an old motor can't be worth much"Hold out for the
upper end of that 100 to 150 suggested.
Check ebay for similar motors.
