I took my boat out on the Fox River(N.E.W.) and it ran great, a first in a long time. Problem was a slime (green Algie) on the whole west shore, including the landing. Put the boat in and took it out for a short ride(45 minutes) and returned to the landing. Put the trailer back in to retrieve the boat. But with all the green slime, I knew I would slip and fall into the water with it on my shoes, so I wrapped the tether cord I had attached to the hull of the boat around the winch and pulled the boat in close enough to reatach the cable from the winch(boat stayed close enough) It worked, and I took the boat to the nearest powerwash I could find. I can't imagine what you guys and gals have to do with salt-water vessals.,Feel free to tell us flatlanders

Sloopy,if your'e ever at a boat landing that is slimey with a shallow grade and you forgot to put on shorts to walk out to put the whinch cable onto the boat.Like I had said I knew that if I tried walking out on the trailer with all that slime I would fall(and of coarse there were people around). That is why I wrapped my bow line around the winch a couple of times and used winch to pull boat in closer.I normally unclip bow line and clip on winch line when I am putting boat back on trailer, but this green alge was bad. Hope you understand this better :)
