my vro pump went oput 6 months ago, i used primer bulb to get back to shore about 1.5 miles. the oil injection also quit. 15 hours later my motor seized. I have replace power head myself and broken in new motor. I HIGHLY RECOMEND ALL USER OF VRO TO RUN OIL IN FUEL TANK AS WELL AS OIL TANK. Read owners manual it says when breaking in to run 25 to 1, it won't hurt it to always run heavy, maybe not 25 to 1 but some oil in gas is better than none. Just something to keep in mind.

Are you saying that you ran the motor 15 hours without the oil injection system or were you pre-mixing the fuel at that point?

sorry, i ran it at about 1500 rpm to get back to dock, maybe a mile and half. then replaced fuel pump with new, but 15 hours later crank siezed

I read this because i have a vro and my motor quit on me today about 4kms out from dock, had to wait an hour for another boater to take pity on me but rather that than run without oil, put right in just a few minutes once at the dock again and i dont regret the wait, i am really sorry for your luck but 1500rpm for mile and half with no oil, engine failure is not fault of vro.

I carry one unopened bottle of tcw3 oil on the boat at all times.

it wasn't consant. and I had just bought the boat. I could have, should have used trolling motor. also there was silicone on fuel pump body, old man that sold me this, knew that there was a problem. vro is a poor design as oil injection part of pump can't be rebuild only fuel pump side. so vro is at fault, but as a boat owner it is still your expense when iot fails. THATS why the post

That's the reason I remove the VRO system from my engines, one less thing to worry about when you are a long way from home.

I agree, but it doesn't hurt to run double fuel. cheap insurance in my opinon, like 1500 mile oil changes.

And the NO-Oil alarm did not go off giving an idea that the engine did not get oil?
I do not think it is quite honest to blame the VRO system in this case, this is a plain user error.
To double the amount of oil as a general rule will only result in a carboned down engine and not even very environment friendly.

no you are correct my no oil light/alarm did come on. All I'm saying is be prepared. it was my fault, i thought by giveing it time after it stalled. it took my about a hour to get back.I'm learning more everyday. My post wasn't bad mouthing vro, great system when they work and much easier to disable than a suzuki(i own one of those also)
