I just received notice that USCG has closed all vessel traffic along the entire length of the Missouri River, 734 miles, due to high water concerns.

Thirty years as a Merchant Mariner and this is the first time I can recall an entire major river system shut down for high water.

I would imagine this will affect many, nautically and economically.

Re: Notice to Mariners - USCG - Missouri

yep, a darn bummer for sure. i'm over in Lincoln, so not affected. but we got two much water around here too. i boat on the missouri usually every summer. but not last summer, and this one don't look likely either. heck, last year, the boat ramp i frequented was part of the river. parking lot and all.
the platte is full too. hopefully that won't affect me. lincoln gets its water from the platte...

mother nature sure is wreaking havoc on folks this year. and it's not even half over yet... more to come i suppose..
