Hi, Was trying to solve mid range bogging problem on this 1993 3.0lx by trying to adjust the air fuel screw and or the timing while running in the stumbling /missing zone when I noticed a lot of steam coming from the out drives exhaust. Temp was at 150..Today I checked bellows and found the exhaust bellow had pulled off at the rear end.Could this had caused the excess steam, or is my new impeller toast? Thanks in advance.

the idle mixture is only for idle ,adjusting the timing running under load is never a good idea either.

so if you could see steam coming out of the exhaust, which i'm guessing would be hard to do if it was submerged in water, you must be running on muffs. when i run on muffs, at 1300rpm as per merc SB 99-09, it will run at 140 all day long but the water exiting the exhaust is hot and does produce steam. you know not to exceed 1500 rpm on muffs right? midrange is higher than you should be running on muffs. if this all happened in the water, then please forgive me.
