'93 johnson 88spl original OEM controlls.
my tilt switch started acting up a few trips ago. I had to press it harder and harder to get it to go to the up position/movement.
When just barely pressed I can hear what I assume is the solenoid clicking but no motor noise.
I think it is the switch. If so how do I get to the damn thing in the handle? I unscrewed controls but it is not apparent how to get to the switch in the handle.
I wanted to get some advice on this before tearing something up.
Thanks.

well before you change out the switch you can test it with an electrical testster, if its good then the problem could be further downstream. just a suggestion before you break anything.

there should be an allen set screw on the pivot point of your remote shifter, it's hidden up underneath.

My theory behind the switch being good is because the solenoid clicks it must be good. I could be wrong especially if the switch caries any amount of amps and is contacting but not carrying the amount of current needed.

atleast pull the handle, off and see if you have chaffed wires, take note of handle position, that center button has a screw too.

Remove the rubber cap. Then remove the button. Put the handle in reverse and look up underneath it for an allen head screw and remove that and the handle should come off.
