Now that winter is about over

Other then the normal run the engine and a good cleaning, changing the oil in the engine and outdrive is a good thing to do right? Is it a good idea to change the water pump too? Needing some helpful hints to make my first spring and summer a blast with my (new to me) boat. Thanks

Any time you can ask"should I " then you should!!!Whether it is a water pump,impeller,thermostat,fuel/water seperator,changing oil.The more costly items like risers and manifolds need more careful consideration.Better to do too much and too often than not enough and too infrequently.Charlie

Suggestion for next fall;<br />Change the outdrive oil in the fall as part of your winterizing maintenance.<br /><br />Reason: If you have any water intrusion in the the drive unit, it can freeze soild in the winter, resulting in a cracked drive unit.

Thanks crazy charlie! I've been asking myself all winter "Should I empty out my savings account and the kids college fund and repower with that new Yammy 4 stroke 150 that I've had my eye on?" I'll just tell the little woman that the experts on i-boats said 'You should if you think you should!!!'

Most in this forum are happy to help Invader.Make sure you post any questions you may have even if they seem like simple questions.Every once in a while there is someone who does not bother to read a post correctly and is quick to criticize.I have found some very respective opinions here.In time you will recognize who to listen to and not.Glad to have you aboard!!!Keep posting!! As I read through some posts I have gotten some great info. I'm not a big forum junkie but I find that this one is to my liking. Thanks for the welcome. Its hard to get into forums till you get a good welcome. I'm sure I will have more ? and comments as the wormer days get closer. Thanks for all the good advise.
