Thank you for providing this service.
I have a NS40C 361A-1 nissan 40 HP Lower unit lube leak.
The leak is out of a fissure or some kind of break near the top of the lower unit. It's like there was a weak spot in the smooth metal, about an inch or so below the top gasket, and that's where the pressure popped a lower lube zit.
Remedies? Prices?
And thanks again

From your description (there aren't any gaskets involved, aside from the drain/fill plug gaskets?), it sounds like the casting has corroded through.

If so, you would need to replace the 361S600000 GEAR CASE ***'Y $547.17. That would involve a fair amount of labor to transfer all the gears, water pump, etc. If you prefer, you could spring the extra funds (about 2-1/2 times the cost) to replace the entire 361S873011 LOWER UNIT ***'Y (Short shaft) $1230.32, or 361S873021 LOWER UNIT ***'Y (Long) $1230.32.

Or you may be able to locate a 40C with a blown powerhead, and transfer the LU. Failing that, you could try [temporarily] patching the hole with a good epoxy, such as JB weld, but your success with the latter will vary depending on the actual condition of the casting, and your prep before applying the epoxy.
