Number 1 cylinder not firing - 1984 70 hsp Johnson

The number 1 cylinder on my 1984 70 hp Johnson is not firing. I have replaced the coil. Still no fire. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Thanks, Doug

Not firing meaning you have a good spark but still not firing? If so have you replaced the plug or checked the compression.

Or not firing meaning there is no spark? Now suspect the power pack, but check all electrical connections


Good spark new plug & good compression. Top carb not getting fuel or in need of a clean?

Did you not check the coil by swapping them around?

This gives a comprehensive path to follow to determine cause of the no fire situation. (New plugs were installed prior to replacing coil.)
