I found out that a baggie I had, had a defective slit and of course it was the one with the rollers for the Rod big ends on a 1955 Johnson QD 16 10hp. Found that 2 had (at least I hope) had fallen out. I come up with 58 total, 29 per rod. I think this is right, but I just don't know. Any info appreciated, as always.

I had a similar problem with my old 5.5, what I did was to re install them and verify that they went all they way around and touched each other. Of course using vaseline or grease to hold em in place when testing. Also, the better way to store them I found was to stick them between 2 pieces of electrical tape and stick em together and you will never lose any that way.

The rule of thumb is that it takes as many as it will hold. There should be a bit of clearance between rollers, but not enough to put in another one. This assumes of course that they aren't caged.

Loose, not caged. I remember it an odd lot when it came down, but age - memory + not writing stuff down=stupid! Thanks, ..guess I have to get out the Vaseline-- in more ways than ... (no, not going any farther with this!) 8)
