I tow a 21'Sea Ray on a tandem axle trailer. How many bunks should I have? Currently have one per side but having trouble with the carpet tearing. I try to wet the bunk before loading and only drive the boat up about 18"

Do I need two bunks per side?

Maybe, what kind and how old is the carpet? Have you tied having the trailer deeper in the water? Are the bunks 2x6?

depending on the year, the Shorland'r trailer would have had 4 bunks under the 19-21 foot searays. shorter ones about 6' long outboard, and longer ones about 10' long inboard

made new bunks last season from 2x6's. rounded off the corners with my router and glued /stapled the carpet to the board and by the end of the season (launched ~ 20 times) the carpet is showing wear

what year boat? SeaRays were paired with Shoreland'r trailers from the factory. is it still a shoreland'r?

this was typical for the SeaRays on Shoreland'r trailers

It's an older shorland'r and the parts list only shows two bunks. The trailer is rated for 4600 lbs and the boat on it weighs 3500 lbs dry

got a year on your boat? I know for a fact that the 1998-2002's used 4 bunks on the 190's and 210's the later 185's and 205's the same thing

it looks like for the 2006 SeaRays they eliminated a set of bunks

here is the 2006 (hope the links come thru)

I would look to add a second set of bunks myself

My 2004 sea ray has basically 2 bunks -two long ones vertically oriented that cover 2/3 of the hull, there are two short ones (3 ft long) under the very front of the keel. Trailer is 5600 lb magic tilt very similar to other tandem axle trailers out there
like loadrite and venture. They all look so similar you’d think they were made by the same company. I’d didn’t have any good pictures but you will see designs like mine with mini bunks under the bow and designs with just two bunks. My old sea ray 170 just had two flat 2x6 bunks. I suspect you are fine and e
