Re: Number on hub is the same but???
I've got a 91 Four Winns w/ a 89 OMC Cobra 3.0L. Prop number is 391199. I bought the boat last year. I was given a replacement hub with it. Same number, seems to be the same but it doesn't fit the same. Any thoughts? It doesn't seem to slide down the shaft as far. Spline fit feels good. I'm lost!
I bought an BRP prop last year and then another this year. Suppose to be the same however the hubs are different. The new prop did not slide on the shaft as far. The new prop also came with a thrust washer and the old prop did not however the two props should have been the same. After looking things over, BRP changed the design of the hub and the thrust washer was clearly different than the older one.
The old thrust washer was flat and looked like this:
The newer thrust washer looked like this:
I would look at the hub designs and see if they changed anything and also look at thrust washer.
