Great fish mate.

My question is how do you get a fish that big off your hook? Or do you... Do you just cut the line?

First off get them subdued, I''ll mouth gaff them and then go after the hook , and it's always good to have two peple to do this task. I couldn't get the circle hook out w/ my hand tools ,so I cut the line by the mouth, I use eagle claws, a non ss hook. I'll go get me one of thse ARC dehookers and see how they work. I'll get both sizes.

Re: Nurse Shark

personally, i have never tried to unhook a shark over about 3-4 feet long. they are just too strong and dangerous. Like you said, use non-stainless hooks and cut the leader real close. I wonder if those de-hookers would work on a 100+ lbs shark. in my experience they are just so wild at the boat and their mouths are so tough that getting the hook out isnt an option.
