I was surprised not many people on the web site own the Hewescraft as it's certainly a well established wonderfully built name in the NW along with others including NWJet, is it possible not many NW freshwater fisherman are on iboats yet?

For info on a couple of pedigreed NW aluminum boats I'll intro ya and yes they are different but here ya go..

i'm in Florida but very much aware of the brands. the jets have their place in the rocky rivers and shallows. but the effieciency of the drive is +- 30 % of a propped drive. also, the boat has a very drab look to them, very military, and utilitarian. poor curb appeal. i admit they are rock solid boats. it's a boat that is built for that region.

The columbia and snake rivers are very deep especially behind the many dams so jet pumps are not usually ordered for the reasons you mentioned except by a few who do the white water areas..for the most part they are ordered with outboards with props and yes they are built tough to last a lifetime. You can also pretty them up with a gazillion options but for the most part, it's weight and performance and tough build which not just NW fisherman pay extra to have. A nice side to the design..it will look new 20 years from now..about the time you pay one off. :=)

I am from the NW, but I have to go in with Tashasdaddy on this one. The Hewes is a very good boat for fishing. Roomy, comfortable, and rides good on the water.
But it costs more then my house and just like a home, you sell it before it gets paid off, or your priorities change.
Also it doesn't have the same appeal to the young guys out there trying to impress the mermaids

NW mermaids are different then..they like wake board boats ok--but really prefer catching bass/walleye then going wakeboarding/skiing behind the same boat later the same day. ;)

BTW..most of my friends who have Hewes or NWjets and others purchased them used from that guy whose priorities changed..like a divorce. I just got my first aluminum recently from someone for just that reason. :(
