I've just come into posession of most of a chrysler 75 , except the lower unit. Its not worth getting it going again so i'm going to out it for parts. I dont have much room to store this in so i'm going to strip as much down as possible any ideas on what bits are wanted. Never seen a chrysler before. I see lots of starter motors on ebay are they a problem ?

Good starters are common and that's why you see them alot. Three things take those motors out. Bad gearcase, bad powerhead, or bad ignition system. Those are the valuable items if they're still good. Trim/tilt units, too.

Re: NZ Chrysler 75 skier

I grew up on a Skier and we ran it excessively for many, many summers. It had a problem idling sometimes and that was about it. We never even changed the spark plugs on it, just put it away every winter correctly and all was well. We sold the boat and the motor. The boat eventually died so it was put on another boat. Last I heard it was being stored in a barn when the barn caught on fire. The next boat did not make it but the motor made it unscathed. I guess the guy is looking to sell it, it still runs. That outboard was one of the best running outboards I have ever seen in my life, bar none. Outside of the idling issue we never had a problem with it. Nor did the next owner.
